The Role

We’re looking for an experienced professional operating in public affairs, community engagement & regeneration communications to join our growing team and help deliver impactful and inclusive work for major regeneration and mixed-use development projects, following a series of high profile and exciting new client wins.

You will play a central role in helping clients navigate complex urban development processes, develop and deliver meaningful stakeholder engagement strategies, and build positive reputations for schemes and organisations shaping the future of our cities and towns.

Key responsibilities

  2. Develop tailored engagement strategies using a range of channels – from face-to-face to digital platforms, newsletters and emerging tech tools
  3. Project manage day-to-day activities, timelines and deliverables, reporting regularly to the Head using project management tools
  4. Liaise confidently and professionally with clients, local authorities, politicians, community groups and other stakeholders (including the media)
  5. Organise and deliver public and stakeholder-facing events and workshops, both online and in person
  6. Advise on and help deliver media relations strategies, including both reactive and proactive press activity
  7. Contribute to the production of high-quality engagement and brand materials in collaboration with designers and wider project teams
  8. Support in the development of social media strategies linked to engagement and place-shaping
  9. Build strong relationships across client and consultant teams
  10. Stay across sector trends, policy updates and local political contexts to provide informed counsel

Must-Have experience & attributes

  1. 6–10 years of experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs or related roles – ideally within a consultancy, agency or in-house within the built environment sector
  2. Genuine passion for regeneration and the role it can play in shaping better places
  3. Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple workstreams simultaneously
  4. Strong organisational skills and comfort with project planning tools
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills – from report writing, to public speaking and creating communications materials for stakeholders
  6. Comfortable working on the ground, as well as at a strategic level
  7. Confident managing stakeholder relationships at all levels
  8. Understanding of how communications tools (including social media and press) support place-based campaigns
  9. Creative and innovative ideas about stakeholder and community mobilisation – helping advise our clients how to go above and beyond to add value
  10. Demonstrable experience working under pressure, including in high-profile or sensitive scenarios and juggling competing priorities
  11. Experience in producing engagement reports and summaries for large complex projects – for example Statements of Community Involvement.

  1. Experience in placemaking and place branding
  2. Experience working with local authorities and an understanding of their regulatory obligations and reporting processes
