The strategy follows the Council’s landmark acquisition of Fareham Shopping Centre, a move designed to unlock new opportunities for investment, sustainability, and community-led growth.
To ensure local voices were at the heart of this transformation, Redwood was appointed – alongside RivingtonHark and Leslie Jones – to lead an intensive four-month engagement campaign. Our role was to gather insights from residents, businesses, and stakeholders, helping to shape recommendations that truly reflect the community’s needs.
We designed and delivered a multi-channel strategy to create a meaningful and inclusive consultation process. This involved hosting workshops with Council officers and councillors to align priorities, launching a coordinated press and social media campaign to inform and engage the public, and utilising digital questionnaires alongside an interactive ideas noticeboard for easy participation. In addition, we introduced the ‘Make Fareham Fun’ initiative, which brought families into the conversation through creative activities such as a colouring-in competition and a pop-up event.
This proactive engagement delivered over 1,200 responses, ensuring that a broad and representative range of views were considered and that the future of Fareham is shaped by the people who know it best.
